Chee Cheong Fun is a rice noodle roll that is originated from Guangdong, China. It is commonly served as a snack, small meal or as a variety of dim sum. The name, “chee” means pig in Cantonese, “cheong” means intestine and “fun” means noodles. The literal translation of chee cheong fun is the pork’s intestine noodle rolls simply because the appearance of the noodle roll looks like a pig’s intestine. In fact, chee cheong fun is vegan by default.
In Malaysia, we serve our chee cheong fun in sweet sauce or curry gravy together with yong tau foo (stuffed tofu). It is everybody's favourite childhood dish as it is sweet, savoury and chewy.
